Summit
Racing Equipment and Kalitta Motorsports team up for Columbus NHRA event;
David Grubnic to drive Summit Racing Equipment Top Fuel
dragster
Ypsilanti, Mich., May 19, 2004 - Ohio based Summit Racing Equipment, the
industry leader in high performance car and truck parts, and Kalitta
Motorsports are proud to announce a one-event primary sponsorship agreement
for the upcoming 40th Annual Pontiac Excitement NHRA Nationals presented by
Summit Racing Equipment at historic National Trail Raceway in Columbus,
Ohio, June 10-13. Team Kalitta driver David "Aussie Dave" Grubnic will pilot
the 7,000 + horsepower Summit Racing Equipment Top Fuel dragster in
accompaniment with Kalitta Motorsports' two other Top Fuel entries driven by
cousins Doug and Scott Kalitta.
The Pontiac Excitement NHRA Nationals presented by Summit Racing Equipment
will be the tenth national event of the 2004 23-event, $50 million NHRA
POWERade Drag Racing Series tour.
Jeff Winters, Marketing Team Manager of Summit Racing Equipment said, "Since
Summit Racing Equipment is the world's leading performance supplier, we were
looking to join up with one of the premier Top Fuel Teams, and we feel there
is a great fit with Kalitta Racing".
"David Grubnic is an aggressive competitor that possesses both good
character and relates well with the fans. It's the kind of winning
combination we look for in drivers and teams we partner with."
"This is an awesome alliance," Grubnic proclaimed. "I've had the pleasure of
meeting some of the Summit executives and corporate staff, and they're all
really great folks. They are so excited about being associated with our race
car, and we feel the same way. It's so great to see their enthusiasm.
Hopefully, we can make them proud and get their car into the winner's circle
in Columbus."
Grubnic, a journeyman Top Fuel driver, is in his first season behind the
wheel of the third Kalitta team car. The native of Brisbane, Australia, has
been driving nitro rails in the United States since 1995. He has already
been low qualifier three times in 2004 after only seven events.
Winters continued, "We are always looking for ways to give back something to
our customers and fans, and helping David promote his new role with Kalitta
Racing is great for the sport." |
